Non Profit & Small Business Internship Program with Isenberg
Thank you for sharing an opportunity with your Non Profit or Small Business! The Isenberg School of Management is looking to partner with up to 10 nonprofits or small businesses in the Amherst area over the summer of 2026.
Our goal is help our talented students develop real business experience while sharing their business knowledge with nonprofits and small businesses. The Isenberg School’s Office of Career Success will work with participating nonprofits and small businesses to promote successful internships as well as help support the cost of a having an intern.
Please use the form at the bottom of this page to submit either an optional draft or a final internship description for review by our office.
March 20th – Submit an internships description for optional review.
If you would like the Isenberg Office of Career Success to review your internship posting for feedback, please select “Draft” in the form and submit your internship description by the March 20th deadline. We’ll give you feedback on whether the internship you are proposing is appropriate for rising Isenberg juniors and seniors.
March 27th – Final Internship Descriptions Due
ALL final Internship descriptions are due by March 27th. Using the form, please enter your internship description. We will let you know the status of your internship by April 1st. We will be partnering with up to 10 organizations for summer 2026 internships. Organizations that do not participate this summer can resubmit in future versions of this program.
April 6th – All Successful Internships Posted and Submitted to our Office
All internships accepted into this program should be posted on employer websites or some other suitable job posting site, such as LinkedIn, Indeed, or Zip Recruiter. Employers need to share their internship URLs with Melissa Salva, msalva@isenberg.umass.edu. We will promote internships to students by April 8th.
May 1st – Employers Complete Intern Interviews and Inform Us of Hiring Decisions
Employers should interview interested students by May 1st. Once hiring decisions are made, employers should notify the Office of Career Success about the interns they have selected. Our office will work with those students to set up their additional stipends. Students will need to apply for additional funding from Isenberg by May 15th.
A Few More Details to Keep in Mind
Internships must take place for 10 weeks between June 1 and August 28, 2026 at one of the following hourly increments:
- 20 hrs/wk – employer to pay $2,000
- 25 hrs/wk – employer to pay $2,500
- 30 hrs/wk – employer to pay $3,000
- 35 hrs/wk – employer to pay $3,500
- 40 hrs/wk – employer to pay $4,000
Isenberg’s Office of Career Success will provide the remainder of the student’s stipend in order to bring the hourly rate above minimum wage and offset students’ costs for staying in the Amherst area over the summer.

Isenberg students, be an intern this summer for an Amherst-area nonprofit or small business! Isenberg is partnering with Amherst-area nonprofits and small businesses to bring you a variety of business internship opportunities. Each internship offers you the chance to develop real-world business experience and skills. At the same time, by taking on an internship with a nonprofit or small business, you are giving back to the community that hosts 1,000s of UMass students every semester!
Where can I find the internship applications? Listed below are all the participating organizations and links to each of their websites where you can find more information about their internship opportunity. Follow the link to the internships that interest you most. Read about the responsibilities and qualifications and apply if you are interested.
What is the relationship between Isenberg and these internships? Isenberg is contributing to the stipend you will earn if you are accepted to one of the positions posted. The employer pays half of your wages. Isenberg pays the other half. With the stipend from Isenberg, your wage, before taxes, should be about $20 per hour. The Isenberg stipend is only available to currently enrolled Isenberg undergraduates who are offered a position with one of the partnering organizations listed below.
How do I secure the stipend from Isenberg to pay part of my wages? If you are selected for an internship, you and your sponsoring organization will let us know the details (number of hours per week, etc.). Once you confirm and provide evidence of your acceptance of the offer to intern, the Office of Career Success will send you a link to an application that allows us to process your stipend.
How many weeks and hours are the internships? Most of the internships listed below are part-time, around 20 hours per week, but one is full-time, around 40 hours per week. Each internship lasts about ten weeks between June 1st and August 28th.
Why is Isenberg paying part of the wage for these internships? Good question! Isenberg alumni have contributed funds to help support a variety of internship opportunities for our students. Those opportunities include internships with nonprofits and small businesses, which may not have the funds to pay students ~$20 per hour. Additionally, Isenberg wants to support our students as well as contribute to the common good of the Amherst-area community. And our students get excellent experience and new skills, making this program and partnership a win-win!
What is the timeline for applying? Because we have to process the stipends on this end, we have asked participating organizations to make final hiring decisions by May 1st. That means Isenberg students who accept an internship need to apply for the Isenberg stipend by May 15th.
Internships should begin on or after June 1st and be completed by August 28th.
